In This Re-edited Episode:
Steve Pavlina, the most widely read personal development blogger in the world, joins me, Isabelle Tierney, on episode 8 of the Dare To Be You Podcast for a deep and amazing conversation about the mindset behind living a radically authentic life. Steve shares his bankruptcy story and how losing everything led him to create the most wondrous and abundant life.
The world of self-help is ripe with Positive Thinking. At DTBY we value positivity, but also wonder if it promotes an aversion to the reality that life has setbacks. A path of conscious growth, and being true to yourself is going to be filled with setbacks simply because you are going against the norm.
Listen in as Isabelle converses with Steve Pavlina, a pioneer in the world of people daring to be themselves, on what it means to face setbacks from a new perspective. What if instead of avoiding and worrying about bad things happening, we embraced the opportunity for expansion and learning?
In the late 90s, Steve was facing bankruptcy. He was sitting on a beach doing his positive thinking when he realized, wait... it is the resistance towards dealing with this bankruptcy that is causing the problem. The bankruptcy wasn't the problem, the way he was framing it was. He couldn't positive think his way out, he had to surrender to reality and take action.... and now he makes large amounts of money because he is no longer oriented around money.
Have you ever asked yourself:
- How would you live if you KNEW you would never have lots of money?
- What would life be like if you stopped having "making money" as your purpose?
- What puts the spark of life into your eyes?
- Are you fun to work with?
- What is your relationship with people who oppose you?
- Do you feel like you have to defend who you are?
